Abstract

The aim of this article is to demonstrate the existence of a potential solar energy market in Chad, in order to attract investments in the field of renewable energy to increase their share in the energy balance of the country. The evaluation of the photovoltaic panels market gave us a total of 935 billion F CFA (1,558 billion USD) turn over. The result of this study has demonstrated the existence of a solvent demand for the order of 5,000,000 panel units to be satisfied each year in Chad. The study concluded that by setting up the UPASE (Unit of Production and Assembly of Solar Equipment), we can have a cost of transfer to users of a solar panel of 200 Wp around 40,000 FCFA (67 USD), which is very competitive compared to the current selling costs which varies between 100,000 FCFA (167 USD) and 150,000 F CFA (250 USD) TTC.
